Whether you want to build muscle or just to be able to lift your own body weight, incorporating resistance training into your regular workout regime is important in helping to keep your body strong and healthy.
Resistance training is an exercise that increases muscle strength through weights or in the case of The Man Challenge via resistance bands and your own body weight. The training is based on the principle that your muscles will work to overcome a resistant force whenever it needs to. It is known to increase the strength and mass of muscles, strengthen bones and joints and rev up metabolism.
The style of resistance training used within The Man Challenge workouts is perfect to help the weekend warriors with sports that incorporate movements such as kicking, throwing or pulling using exercises to target and strengthen specific areas. Importantly the exercises are easy to do and focus mainly on body weight so don't require heavy weights or fancy equipment.
Resistance training helps to prevent chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, back pain, depression and diabetes. An increase in muscle mass as a result of resistance training reduces body fat and enhances your metabolic rate making it one of the most effective ways to lose and maintain weight.
Men’s muscle mass naturally diminishes once we hit 30 years of age with this loss accelerating once we reach our 40s and 50s. This presents a problem as muscle is critical for men! As well as making you look good and firing up your metabolism, it is basically your body’s armour – it protects you from diseases, protects your joints and slows ageing. So it’s important to continue doing exercises and keep our bones strong and by undertaking resistance training on a regular basis you can slow down the loss of muscle mass.
The Man Challenge exercises can be modified to suit any fitness level, physical condition or age. Whether you’re a looking to just get moving or improve your fitness and strength. The flexibility of resistance based bodyweight training allows for a number of simple ways to make any exercise more challenging.
The beauty of resistance based bodyweight exercises mean they can be done anywhere, anytime from the home or backyard to the local park or hotel room. Got a door? Use it for chin ups. Got a table? Use it for Table Rows. The best thing with The Man Challenge workouts is it only takes 10 minutes a day to achieve results.
