We’re all good at telling BS stories and we’ve all got one – whether it’s ‘I was going to start eating better and training but I got too busy’ or ‘it’s boring and my knee hurts’ or ‘I’m not fat, I’m big-boned’.

The thing is, when you make excuses, you become a victim, you’re telling yourself that you’re weak and helpless, and start to believe that you have no control over your own health and life.

Two of the most common excuses I hear are “I’m not fat, I’m big-boned’’ and “my whole family is fat, it’s in my genes”. Well, I have some good news for you – if your family members are fat you don’t need to go out and buy fat jeans with an elastic waist because 70 per cent of your weight and fitness goals are determined by your lifestyle, not your genes.
